Passengers stuck on Universal Studios Florida roller coaster

Twelve people were stranded on the The Hollywood Rip Ride Rockkit roller coaster at Universal Studios Florida in Orlando after it came to a stop early Wednesday night. They were freed 2-3 hours later after 9 p.m. The 12-person train stopped at the highest point around 7 p.m. Eastern time. For over an hour, the riders sat secured by their lap bars only, facing the sky and flat on their backs, WOFL-TV reports. The other riders were able to get off the roller coaster after it stopped. The 65-mile per hour roller coaster climbs 17 stories above the Universal Studios theme park and runs from City Walk to the Twister attraction. One person with neck pain was taken to the hospital. The Associated Press reports the roller coaster closed for 2 days in August after the ride suddenly stopped. At that time, one woman suffered a minor injury.
