As the holiday shopping season gets underway, some 50 Walmart workers and supporters rallied for higher wages and better working conditions at the Walmart SuperCenter on Gunn Highway Saturday afternoon in Tampa. Johnathan LaFavor is an overnight sales associate at Walmart. He says he earns less than $10 an hour.
“We want respect on the job. For example, a lot of the managers here and across the country are mistreating us. They talk down to us like we’re nobodies,” said LaFavor.
Walmart’s recent commercials feature employees praising the company for career growth and educational opportunities.
