Temperatures climbed to a record 96 degrees in the Tampa Bay area today. Local meteorologists say with the heat indexes in the 60’s and 70’s, the outside temperatures felt like 100 -110 degrees and higher. No one was seen walking, biking or skating on the Upper Tampa Bay Trail around 5 p.m. Many parents took their children to nearby Citrus Park Mall to enjoy the air conditioning and check out the July 4th week sales. Thunderstorms moved into the Carrollwood area during the dinner hour and cooled down temperatures. For the past week, daytime temperatures have been in the 90’s.
