The National Hurricane Center is watching 2 tropical storms, Bertha and Iselle. Tropical Storm Bertha is in the Atlantic. As of 5 p.m. EST, Bertha was located 405 miles southeast of San Juan, Puerto Rico. T.S. Bertha’s coordinates were 14.9 N, 61.2 W, moving WNW at 24 mph. Bertha’s sustained winds were 50 mph. The NHC advisory says Bertha’s center is passing the northern end of Martinique. Tropical storm watches are in effect for the SE Bahamas, Turks and Caico Island.
Tropical Storm Iselle is in the eastern Pacific. Iselle is expected to become a hurricane. As of 2 p.m. PDT, Iselle was 1225 miles WSW of the southern tip of Baja California. The NHC reports Iselle has stopped strengthening for now. Iselle’s coordinates were 14.5 N and 126.4 W and moving WNW at 12 mph. Maxium winds were 65 mph.
