Construction to expand Hobby Airport in Houston, Texas continues in August’s summer heat. The expansion project includes a new entry road for a new parking garage, an elevated roadway and an extension of the drop-off curb. Work began on the new garage in early April. The new garage will add 3,000 spaces. A new international terminal also is going up, now that the site has been cleared and the underground utilities have been rerouted, according to airport officials. The improvements will support more passenger traffic when international air service starts at Hobby Airport in late 2015.
“Hobby Airport is growing at a rapid rate. Last year we reached an all-time high of 11.1 million passengers, so it is imperative that we improve our infrastructure to offer our customers a first-class travel experience,” said Perry Miller, William P. Hobby Airport General Manager in May.
