Merry Christmas!

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever beleives in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”–

John 3:16-17

This week’s Bible verses are from Calvary Baptist Church and with Hebrews 1-3, focuses on the excellence of Christ. Pastor William Rice’s message on Sunday looked at the Glory of Christmas, what is special about Christmas and “Show Us Your Glory” (Hebrews 1:1-4)
Rice also took us through Moses arguing with God and God wanting to abandon them as Moses and the Israelites were trying to flee Egypt (Exodus 33).

To experience the glory of Christmas

1. Consider the Glory of God.  Moses challenges, asks God “Now, show me your Glory.” – Exodus 33:18

Throughout the Bible, God ‘s glory is seen in the heavens, the skies, the angel of the Lord who appeared to shepherds, guarding their flocks and frightening them with the brightness of His glory and then an army of angels to the same shepherds. That’s just some examples.

Psalm 19:1 and Luke 2:9-15

2. Consider the Greatness of Jesus.

For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.”

–2 Corinthians 4:6

Pastor Rice closes with what Jesus is.

Jesus is the Heir of all things, Creator of all things, Radiance of God’s glory, Exact Image of God, Sustainer of all things, Purifier of our sins and Seated at the right hand of God.
