Killen’s Barbeque is known for its “melt in your mouth” and tender beef ribs and brisket.  During our visit on December 30, 2014, Killens lived up to its #1 rating by the Houston Chronicle–even when ordering takeout and eating it an hour later.

Killen’s opened in 2013.  Now hundreds of people line up outside to try its barbeque daily when it opens at 11 a.m. Expect to wait in line at least an hour before ordering your food.

Our order of 1 beef brisket plate and 1 beef ribs plate, each with 2 sides and 2 iced teas cost around $30.00.  Beef brisket and other barbequed items are available by the pound, too.  Beef brisket is $16 per pound.  The menu and prices are at http://www.viewmenu.com.

The indoor dining room in a 1950’s rock pop décor has individual tables of 4 to 8 people and chairs to seat up to 150 people. Classic picnic tables also are available for outdoor dining.

There is plenty of free outdoor parking behind the restaurant.

Killlens is located at 3613 East Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581 in the original downtown area of Pearland, just southeast of Houston.  Hours are 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.  Phone: 281-485-2272.

Killens closes when the barbeque runs out each day.  So, get there early to wait in line, at least 1 hour ahead of time before 11 a.m. opening time and an hour before the 3 p.m. closing time.  Bring your cell phones to call family and friends, if they are unable to stand in line for long periods of time.

The tender, moist, fall-off-the bone barbeque is excellent.
