A sunnier and drier week for the Houston area. Here’s a view of the Houston, Texas downtown skyline from Buffalo Bayou Park on Tuesday afternoon. A week ago, there was widespread historic flooding in the city. Many roads and underpasses were deep in water from the heavy rain and bayous overflowing. (See YouTube video “Idiot drives in Houston flood.”)
Affected home owners and businesses in Meyerland, Bellaire and southwest Houston continue to recover from the flood damage. Some Bellaire office building elevators are still out of service. Once-flooded underground office garages with stranded parked cars also are drying out. KHOU-TV reports an apartment complex in northwest Houston also has elevators not working since the flooding last week. American Red Cross volunteers have been bringing water and food to residents at the complex.
