Unsolved Tampa Teen Shootings

Tampa Police are investigating a drive-by shooting in the Sulphur Springs neighborhood of east Tampa.  The latest shooting happened at approximately 10:45 p.m. Saturday, June 13th  at 14th Street North and Humphrey Street East.  Police say a dark colored sedan with dark tinted windows pulled up to a group of youths standing on the corner and fired 3 shots at the group. A 16-year-old girl was hit, but she suffered non life-threatening injuries. Patrol officers arrived within minutes. Tampa Police detectives and officers are interviewing witnesses and need the public’s help for any information leading to the arrests of the people involved in this shooting and others.

Tampa Police detectives are looking for witnesses to come forward to solve the fatal shooting of Richard Newton, a 14 year-old African American teenager. On Saturday, March 21, 2015 at around 11:30 a.m., Newton, was at an outdoor birthday party at 8105 9th Avenue in Tampa.  During the Saturday morning party, a fight broke out and shots were fired. Richard was shot and killed.

Tampa Police detectives also need the public’s help in the Robles Park shooting of 3 teenagers.  On Sunday, March 8, 2015 at around 8:14 p.m., Tampa Police responded to calls of shots fired and found 3 teenagers shot near East Lake Avenue and North Avon Avenue in Tampa. Witnesses reported shots were fired toward a crowd at the Robles Park basketball courts while one or more vehicles were traveling east on East Lake Avenue from North Florida Avenue. The possible suspect vehicles are a dark 4-door sedan or a red SUV.
