Flood Watch in Tampa Bay Area Continues

  Our “waterfront” backyard in the Carrollwood area on Monday, Aug. 3, 2015 at 9:35 a.m.  Some 2.3 inches rain fell in 45 minutes this morning at this location.

Flood watches continue for coastal Levy, Citrus, Hernando, Pasco, Pinellas and Hillsborough counties today, according to the National Weather Service and local meteorologists. Over the weekend, rainfall amounts neared or exceeded 6 inches in  areas where the ground is saturated. The NWS advises residents in flood prone areas to protect their property with more storms and showers forecast today and Tuesday.

The National Weather Service forecasts 100% storms, showers on Monday to 50% rain chance on Tuesday.  Rain is starting to taper off in northern Hillsborough County this morning.

Leaky Roof 8-1-15 002The heavy downpours flooded roads and homes in parts of south Tampa Saturday and Sunday morning, but most streets drained off by 4 p.m. Sunday.  A few stalled abandoned cars and leaky roofs at businesses and homes also were seen around the Tampa Bay area late Sunday afternoon.
