On Sunday, Senior Pastor Dan Ho’s message was “He Watches The Heart” as part of the series, “Let Me Introduce You to Jesus” at Chinese Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. The message is based on a widow’s offering in Mark 12:41-44.

“Now Jesus sat opposite the treasury and saw how the people put money into the treasury. And many who were rich put in much. Then one poor widow came and threw in two mites, which make a quadrans. So He called His disciples to Himself and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury; “For they all put in their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had, her whole livelihood.”  –Mark 12:41-44, NJKV

Here are Pastor Ho’s Sermon key points:

  1. The Lord Sees
  2. The Lord Judges
  3. The Lord Takes Notice

The Lord Sees

“We see a lot of facades and hide what’s inside. That’s human nature. We’re really good at putting up fronts. Jesus know these things and watches what is inside your heart,” Pastor Ho said. “We don’t think God sees, but He does.”

“With the widow, God sees something good. Nobody cares about a poor widow except Jesus,” Pastor Ho explained.

The Lord Judges

“We live in a society that is politically correct and we try at this church,  not to be judgmental. Our loving God judges and determines what is good or bad. While our society changes, God does not change and there are consequences. Things happen. There is judgment in the House of God and it does not cease,” Pastor Ho said.

“God loves good, but do not mock God, if you continue to live a sinful life,” Pastor Ho added.

The Lord Takes Notice

“The widow gives 2 pennies, all that she has. The Lord Jesus made it clear that 2,000 years later her story would be told,” Pastor Ho said.

“God is looking at what is in your heart. What little you have, God is going to do something with it. God takes notice and changes hearts,” Pastor Ho said.

“God uses people who trust in Him to make an impact,” Pastor Ho said.
