Some areas around Tampa Bay had nearly a rain-free Sunday for most of the day. The National Weather Service forecasts a 70 to 20% rain chance Sunday night with thunderstorms likely than isolated thunderstorms and a low temperature tonight of 76 degrees for the Tampa Bay area. On Monday, the NWS forecast high temperature is around 91 degrees with a 20-60% chance of isolated thunderstorms with thunderstorms likely.
On this last day of Florida’s Sales Tax holiday, many enjoyed the nice weather while others headed to local malls for Back-to-School deals.
“It’s been busy all day. It’s like Black Friday,” said Leslie at the Express store at Citrus Park Mall in Tampa on Sunday afternoon.
Many stores offered 40-70 percent discounts on clothing and other items this weekend. The sales tax holiday started on August 7th and ends at 11:59 p.m. today, August 16th. For a list of items not taxed, go to http://myflorida.com/dor
Others enjoyed a warm, sunny and cloudy Sunday afternoon at the beaches, including Ben T. Davis Beach off the Courtney Campbell Causeway. Off in the distance, rain could be seen south of the Howard Frankland Bridge late Sunday afternoon.
