Erika Remnants bring Flash Floods to Tampa Area

Cars and trucks on their way home tonight drove slowly through flooded South Village Drive near N. Dale Mabry around the Village Presbyterian Church, 13115 S. Village Dr. in the Carrollwood Village area.  This video was shot at 5:25 p.m. ET on Monday, Aug. 31st.  The ground is saturated in many areas in the Tampa Bay area from high amounts of rainfall during August.

The National Weather Service and local meterologists says tropical moisture associated with the remnants of Tropical Storm Erika, which dissipated on Saturday morning, will bring heavy rain and flooding to parts of Florida today.

WFLA-TV meteorologists say 16.43 inches of rain fell in August, making it the third wettest August on record.

A NWS flood watch in the Tampa Bay area until 8 p.m. has expired.

Tune into local broadcast stations for weather forecast updates.
