Participants dove into social media and websites for information, story ideas and news sources at the Social Media Deep Dive Workshop presented by the Kiplinger Program in Public Affairs Journalism at Ohio State University.



The Radio Television News Digital Association, Society of Professional Journalists and National Association of Hispanic Journalists are in Orlando to learn new skills, train,  network and connect with employers, educators and diversify newsrooms. Nearly 1,500 journalists and aspiring journalists are expected to attend Excellence in Journalism 2015 at the Orlando World Center Marriott. EIJ 2015 runs through Sunday. The conference will be in New Orleans next year. Here are some photos from the conference’s opening day.

Exhibitors displayed the latest technology in news and weather. Recruiters at the J-Expo and Career Fair shared job openings at their companies and offered video critiques for broadcast journalists and aspiring journalists. Award-winning journalist and professor Joseph B. Treaster 0f the University of Miami’s School of Communications visited with Mauricio Munez at the FOX News booth. FOX News also hosted the free professional head shot studio for career fair attendees.  JC Penney offered hair and makeup makeovers at the J-Expo and Career Fair.
