For Christ also suffered for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, that He might bring you to God,… ~1 Peter 3:18, HCSB

I must choose to be a MINORITY with God, rather than a MAJORITY with man.

A Picture to See:

God patiently waited in the days of Noah while an ark was being prepared. In it a few—that is, eight people—were saved through water. Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the pledge of a good conscience toward God) through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. ~1 Peter 3:20-21

In baptism and in Noah’s ark I see a…

  • Picture of  DEATH.  –
  •        The flood was God’s judgement.  God saw how corrupt the world is.
  • Picture of  CLEANSING
  •         The flood gave God a chance to start over and wipe the slate clean.
  • Picture of  RESURRECTION.
  •          Jesus died and rose, overcame death so that we can have a new life, be a new person in Christ.

The ark was like a large coffin that Noah built to God’s specifications – 1.5 football fields long, 3-4 stories high, took decades for Noah to build during a time when it didn’t rain. A boat had never been built before. People thought Noah, his family and all the animals inside the ark were crazy. Eight people were saved from the destructive flooding, Pastor Rice said in retelling the Biblical story of Noah’s Ark.

An Example to Follow:

Like Noah I should:

1. BELIEVE  God.

2. OBEY God.

3. TRUST  God.

God has already built the ark for you and all sinners who confess their sin before God, put their faith and trust in Jesus. That ark is Jesus, Pastor Rice explained.

“A flood is coming. God’s judgment is coming. You will stand before God, make an account (of your life),” Pastor Rice said.

“You won’t stand alone. The door  (Jesus) is open if you go in, if you believe, obey and trust Jesus. God will save you.” Pastor Rice said.
