Sun Trust Bank Phone Scam in Florida

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd is warning residents about phone calls from a fake Sun Trust Bank person. During the past week, 3 people in Polk County were contacted. The PCSO says one person hung up because he didn’t have a SunTrust bank account. Another started go give out his information on the phone to the caller and hung up after realizing it was a scam. PCSO detectives contacted Sun Trust Bank who reported the phone scam has been around in Volusia and Oklaloosa counties, too.

If you receive a similar suspicious phone call, do not give out personal information over the phone, hang up and contact your bank directly.  You also are asked to contact Polk County Sheriff Detective Loder at 863-292-3300 or your local law enforcement.
