Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Hillsborough County firefighters found another marijuana grow house. This time it was during a fire at 906 Homewood Drive in Brandon on April 4th.
While inside the home, firefighters found two rooms converted for growing marijuana and numerous marijuana plants in pot.
HCSO detectives also got a search warrant and confiscated high sodium vapor lights, ballasts, fans and 31 mature marijuana plants inside the residence. Tampa Electric Company (TECO) also discovered an illegal electrical connection providing un-metered electricity to the residence. Over $8,745 worth of electricity was stolen during the grow operation. The HCSO says the 270 pounds of marijuana had a street value of $540,000.
Hillsborough County Fire Investigator Brett Vaughan says the illegal electrical tap caused the fire at the Homewood Drive home.
This marijuana grow house bust also is the 16th marijuana grow operation shut down this year in Hillsborough County, according to the HCSO.
