The Florida Highway Patrol wishes everyone safe travel this Memorial Day weekend. On Saturday, FHP investigated 1 fatal crash in Hillsborough County and 1 in Pasco County on Saturday, May 28th.

AAA expects more than 38 million Americans will travel this Memorial Day weekend. AAA says it is the second-highest Memorial Day travel volume on record and the most since 2005. About 700,000 more people will travel this holiday weekend compared to 2015. The Memorial Day travel period began last Thursday and ends today, Monday, May 30th.  AAA says the increase in holiday travel is due to the lowest gas prices in more than a decade. In the Tampa Bay area, the lowest price for regular gas is $1.98 per gallon with the average price at $2.14, according to http://www.gasbuddy.com

The Veterans Administration says Memorial Day is a time to remember those who served and died during active military service. It’s also the last holiday before the official start of summer on June 20th.
