Donald Trump rallied his supporters at the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa Monday afternoon. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said 3,250 people with tickets attended before Trump arrived and took the stage. During his speech, Trump reached out to African American and Hispanics to broaden his base of support. The GOP presidential candidate also talked about the economy, being a jobs creator, the American energy business, terrorism, urban crime, education, building a wall between the United States and Mexico and being a more inclusive America. He also took a few jabs at President Obama and Hillary Clinton.
While national polls show Hillary Clinton leading Trump in some states, a recent Florida Atlantic University Poll shows Trump ahead 2 points in Florida. (Clinton 41%, Trump 43%)
Tampa realtors Wei Xue and Sandy Ou brought their group of Trump supporters to the rally. Xue says there are at least 100 Chinese American Trump supporters in the Tampa area. Xue said illegal immigrants should come to the United States legally and not take advantage of America.
The rally also had some lighter moments. Stan from the Villages in Central Florida, dressed like Trump and had the hair, too. Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, former New York Mayor Rudi Guiliani and other speakers warmed up the crowd before Trump’s speech. One lady also came in her Trump car.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office and Secret Service were present to make sure the Trump rally was safe, secure and peaceful.
