The Thanksgiving travel period is underway. The increase in travelers started last Wednesday and runs through November 27th, according to AAA.  Southwest Airlines planes were filled to capacity on Saturday night. The wait time to get through security checkpoints at Houston’s Hobby Airport was less than 10 minutes on this weekend before Thanksgiving.  Economy parking at Tampa International Airport is free for the first 15 minutes and $1.00 every 20 minutes. Above is one economy parking bill at Tampa International Airport on Saturday night.

AAA forecasts 48.7 million Americans will travel this Thanksgiving —One million more compared to last Thanksgiving due to higher wages, an improved economy over the last 6 months and increased consumer spending and confidence.  AAA says gas prices are around $2/gallon for travelers on the road.  Airfares also increased an average of $205 per round trip.
