Tornado Warning for Houston Area

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for Harris (Katy, Copperfield, Jersey Village, Addicks, Spring, Bush Intercontinental Airport, Woodlands, Hwy 290, north of Houston), Fort Bend, Waller and Liberty counties in Texas this morning.  Some areas also are experiencing heavy rain and power outages, KHOU-TV reports.

As of 8:20 a.m. Central Time, the tornado warning is in effect for Harris, Montgomery and Liberty counties.

The possibility of tornadoes exist.  The National Weather Service tweeted to take cover. Meteorologists advise to seek shelter if needed –interior room with no windows or a bathroom.

Martin Luther King Day events may be affected by the rain today.
