Parkinson’s Disease Fundraiser

A group of Houston students called Parkinsons Team Hope and a new fast food chain in Texas challenged diners Friday night to make their food orders matter.  From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. tonight, some customers at El Pollo Loco at 5309 S. Rice Avenue near Highway 59 helped make a difference in helping people with Parkinson’s Disease.  Proceeds from this fundraiser benefitted the National Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to research, education and support.  PD is a disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and leaves a person unable to control muscle movement. According to the National Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, one million people live with PD in the United States and some 60,000 Americans are diagnosed with the disease every year.
