Houston Police, law enforcement, family and friends will gather for a final farewell to fallen Houston Police Officer Norberto “Bert” Ramon at the River Pointe Church in Channelview, Texas.  The funeral service is at 11 a.m. on Monday.

Officer Ramon served with the Houston Police Department for 25 years. He died from cancer and was 56 years old.  During cancer treatments, Officer Ramon rescued “countless numbers of flood victims during Hurricane Harvey in 2017,” Houston Police said in a news release.

Ramon’s family will gather outside the church for a brief Hall of Honor ceremony after the service.


Houston Police are looking for the man who shot and killed another man in the La Oficina bar Sunday morning.  It happened around 4:35 a.m. at 11573 South Wilcrest near West Belfort.  Police described the suspect as an Hispanic male.

Late Saturday night, State District  Judge Kelli Johnson  declared a mistrial in the choke-hold death of John Hernandez after a confrontation outside a Denny’s Restaurant in Harris County.  The jury deliberated more than 29 hours and could not decide to convict or acquit Terry Thompson of Crosby, Texas during the 2-week trial.
