Suspect Charged in Shooting Involving Federal Agent

Houston Police say charges have been filed against a suspect to be arrested by Homeland Security federal agents at 6110 Grapevine. The suspect, Michael D. Dennis, 35, is charged with aggravated assault against a public servant in the 339th State District Court. No booking photo of the suspect is available at this time.

Homeland Security federal agents went to the Grapevine address and forced their way into the residence.  As they entered, the Dennis was seen with a firearm.  Afraid for their safety, one of the federal agents fired in Dennis’ direction.  Then all 3 agents left and sent a mobile robot inside to order Dennis to come outside.

HPD Homicide Division Special Investigations Unit Detective L. Baily reported the Homeland Security agent who fired off a shot was not hurt.  When he came out of the residence, agents saw that Dennis had been wounded. Dennis was taken to the hospital to be treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

Federal charges are pending.  The Harris County District Attorney’s Office and the HPD Homicide Division Special Investigations Unit are investigating the incident.
