State Fair of Texas

The State Fair of Texas is one of the two largest state fairs in the United States. The other is in Minnesota.  The state fair is held every Fall in Dallas. It opened for the first time on October 26, 1886. Some 14,000 people visited the State Fair of Texas on opening day. The state fair also had a history of racial discrimination dating back to the 1880’s.  Times have changed since then and everyone is welcome.  A week ago, it was free admission day for seniors and veterans. The beautiful sunny weather also was a factor for thousands who came out to enjoy the State Fair last week.  This fair also is “coupons only” for all food and rides. So bring cash or credit cards to buy coupons.  The fair ends Sunday, October 21st.
